Outside the Lines

Only when I am supposed

to be sleeping

can I write the dance

of language in my head.

While the night sky

whispers lullabies

and babies sigh

my mind waltzes furiously

outside the lines.

The Anna K. Bonde Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship Fund was established with gifts made in memory of Anna K. Bonde. Anna was a 1999 graduate of Churchill High School and was very active during high school in the Creative and Performing Arts (“CAPA”) program. After graduation, Anna attended St. Olaf College where she majored in theatre and dance. During her sophomore year, Anna was killed by a drunk driver. This scholarship fund is intended to assist high school seniors who have been involved in the CAPA program, and who will pursue a college education.

Students will be required to submit an application, including supporting documents. Financial need is not required. There will be no restrictions on the award of scholarships based on race, religion, sex, national or ethnic origin or other prohibited discriminatory criteria.

Income from the assets of the scholarship fund in excess of that needed to maintain the growth of the fund will be available for distribution in scholarships. Scholarships are non-renewable. A student may only receive one scholarship award. Scholarships are expected to range from $500 to $2000 each, depending on the availability of funds and the number of qualifying applicants chosen. If the number of qualifying applications is inadequate, funds may be retained for awarding in subsequent years or to be kept in the Scholarship Fund. The administration and awarding of scholarships is subject to any additional rules that may be imposed by the scholarship fund administrators or the Internal Revenue Service.

The scholarship committee will review all materials and select scholarship recipients. Only applicants who are awarded scholarships will receive notification.
