Wow! It's been a while since I've returned to CAPA. Glad to see the talent is still flowing from an outstanding program. It's too bad the Instrumental/Visual strands have been discontinued. I truly enjoyed my time in the original four years {86-90) of the program as a visual artist able to think and create freely while experiencing other areas of the arts. I'm now teaching art at Lakeland HS in White Lake, MI. Dare to dream and continue to create!

I was just trying to learn how to finally use a computer and found this site. I am so glad to see the program is going strong. I hope it is as inspiring to the members as it was to me. Still love you Mack Attack ;thank you for getting me out of my shell, now I'm fearless.   Check on everyone soon.  All my love and thanks, Ande.

Major Kudos!! to Kris Wellman and his entire crew. The Observer coverage is phenomenal and enticing - I highly encourage everyone to take their "cue" from the newspaper article and go see "Slander Is Grander." The play is cutting edge material; the cast is well-honed; the playwright/composer is to be taken seriously!! and CAPA is to be commended for encouraging and supporting this venue.

My Senior Directors: You are the best I have ever had. The Marathon was professional, and all of you had effort and direction in your pieces. I loved how so many of you took chances with younger talent, and I was so pleased with how you could get them to deliver. Roses to you all!!!!

Hello CAPA and CAPA alum. This is a graduate of CAPA acting/vocal from 1997. It's so great that CAPA is still around. I have such great memories of this program and the friends I made. Especially the great friends I still have! Ms. Mack I'm so glad you are still running the program and it's strong! Good luck to all CAPA grads! I check the website for news on alumni -- and it's wonderful that several of them have careers in the arts. Whatever you do in CAPA you'll take with you, even if it's just some crazy memories. :)

Sincerely, Jaimie Winkler

Having a part in the making of "JUVIE" has been a great experience for me. I enjoyed every minute of it. To the cast and crew "BRAVO" you were all wonderful and should be proud of what you have accomplished. Someday, many years from now, you will look back on this time in your life and smile.

TO EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON JUVIE: Mr. Wright and I finished finally editing the film. It was an exciting and melancholy moment all in one. We were jubilated that it was indeed a "wrap", but sad to see a most wonderful journey conclude. I hope all of you enjoyed this experience as much as we did. Now we look forward to seeing it on the big screen on April 29th. Tell all of your families and friends to come. THANKS TO CAST AND CREWS!!!!!!!

Ohmagosh, I never thought a show could ever be this fun. Footloose was without a doubt fantastic! Yes, we had some drama issues and the whole mirror ball accident, but that's life, things aren't always perfect. "Life is like flowers and meat". Whatever that means. I met alot of super-de-duper geat people that I didn't even know existed, okay maybe I did. This has been an awesome experience and I'm really going to miss the seniors leaving this year(and we just became friends). Everyone was absitively posolutely amazing!!(To my squad, thanx for making everything memorable: E-Diggity, Smooth Butter, T-Time, Leen, Jeezy, Baby-B, B. Blast, White Chocolate Thunder, Tizzisue)Thank you Mrs. Porter, Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Cimm for the wonderful experience!

Hi all,
Looks like you are doing some fantastic work!!! Great job Ms. Mack :) I was a student in CAPA from 1989-1991 before my family moved to Ann Arbor. I really loved it and wish I was still in the Arts. Alas, I am finishing my PhD in Biology in Boston. Who'd have ever known the two would mix so well? Just goes to show that CAPA students are quite capable of anything!! Keep up the great work!

It was a privilege to spend a few days developing 'character' with you. I hope you took something valuable home to work on. To the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast: You were fantastic, and I am ever so grateful that each and every one of you did the task assigned to you. It is only through teamwork, that we can mount these huge musicals that we do. This show was a spectacle, and now we can look forward to Footloose, and ending our hiatus with Juvie. More musical rehearsals, more shoots with the film crew. We are always busy... but within the arts, it is merely focus and geez-oh-petes, where does time fly? Always quickly, when we are having fun, and creating, and doing what comes instinctively. To our next venture: "GO YOU CAPA KIDS...."
See you on the next shoot for Juvie, or at rehearsals for Footloose.
Always,
The Mackster

This was my first experience of a CAPA musical, and while I tend to be overly critical of such things the performance exceeded my expectations by far in all respects. The cast and crew of CAPA are truly an astonishingly talented group of people.

My most heartfelt thanks to Sarah and friends for providing me such invaluable assistance. I also wish to thank Sandy, Vicky, Wendy, and Lori for their gracious courtesies.

Awesome job to all---I watched today's matinee and truly enjoyed seeing how much fun every performer seemed to be having, despite the long rehearsal hours leading up to this! I just saw CAPA's production of Beauty and the Beast and I totally loved it!! I would call it one of your best productions I've seen. Many compliments to the pit orchestra as well- I almost forgot there was live music you guys sounded so professional! I was also very happy to see an oboe in the pit, since I play the oboe and I believe it is a very important instrument. All your characters were very authentic with very cool costumes as well. I am almost 12 and would LOVE to be in CAPA in 2 years. I am looking forward to the audition experience. Break a leg on your next one!!!

The feedback from all of the schools who have attended the matinees is fabulous! The little ones are returning to the schools with stars in their eyes while the older students are thinking that they, too, might like to have as much fun as you do performing. One more time, with all of your amazing hard work backstage, in the orchestra pit, in the sound and lighting booths, and very long rehearsals - CAPA students are seen shining on stage!! Thank you for being Livonia's premiere theatre venue!

I watched the matinee of  "Beauty and The Beast" today.  The cast and crew were superlative as usual.  All of you should be proud of  your presentation of this Disney classic.  It never ceases to amaze me how talented you kids are!  Every year kids leave and you think oh man what will they do without this person or that and every year there you are, the new, the multitalented  " The Awesome CAPA Kids" .  Congratulations to those lucky enough to have tickets.

Hi everybody! I'm so glad to see a message board up. I could go on and on about how CAPA changed my life and still not fully grasp the entirety. I love the program and everyone I met in it.

Just an update for anyone who's interested, I recently (May 2005) married my high school sweetheart and Churchill graduate Chris Frank. Mrs. Murphy was actually at the wedding, and Mr. Murphy's band played at it. Thanks to both of them for being a part of my big day!

Right now I work at Allstate Insurance Co. in Northville, but I'm applying for a Customer Service job at BCBSM. I'm currently pursuing a degree in Finance. I changed my major a few times; Secondary Education -> Interior Design -> Entrepreneurship -> Finance. When I graduate I'll have a major in Finance w/minors in General Business and Human Environments from Eastern Michigan. I taught a few dance classes for a few years, but I don't have any extra time right now to even take a class, not to mention teach one. It was fun while it lasted though.

I've been having a lot of fun lately hanging out with some other CAPA alums, including Jen Lerman, Chris Ogden, Danyelle Pinkerton, and one time that I got to see Spock. Oh yeah, and I'm always hanging out w/my sis Nikki, who's still a Dallaire for now, but not after July '06.

I want to let all the kids currently in CAPA know, this will affect you for the rest of your life in a bigger way than you can possibly imagine. And you don't have to go into the performing arts after high school to see the impact. Being in CAPA, it changes the way you live your life, the way you interact with people. You learn what it's like to be a part of a family that has nothing to do with blood. You make the kinds of friends that it's ok if you are out of touch with each other, because you can just pick up where you left off. You know that for the rest of your life, you have a group of people who are going to care about what happens in your life, even if they never let you know. Being in CAPA Dance taught me a lot about communication. Circle Talk isn't just a day to slack off and not dance, it's a day to learn how to share your feelings and vent in a way that things actually get resolved.

I didn't realize it until the day of graduation when I couldn't stop crying, but I truly loved high school, and it was because of CAPA. Thank you so much! I love you all.

Wow, I am thoroughly impressed! It is amazing to see CAPA thrive and it pulls at my heart at the same time. I have such precious memories of CAPA performances, my experiences here hold a special place in my heart. I miss the stage and the people! This program shaped me as a person and I'm forever grateful. Mrs. Mack is an amazing teacher. As for an update on me - I've been MIA since I moved to OK in 99! I went to school on scholarship for theater, but majored in Biology. I was able to teach a few acting camps and work as an extra in 61* the summer it filmed in Detroit, but that's about it. I'm currently working on my PhD in Microbiology here. I'd love to hear what everyone else is up to. Miss you all! Oh, another piece of news is that Brian and his wife had a baby girl in May and Beth is due with a boy in February. It's crazy how fast things change...Hope to see you all sometime!

Thanks to all of you who tried out for JUVIE. This film is going to be amazing. All of you are so talented. If you weren't cast, just remember that we have more auditions coming soon for future shows...and.... I will post sign up sheets at least a week prior to certain shoots where I may need extras in the background. Hey everybody -- I know I'm going to miss CAPA and the people in it so much.
The only reason why I don't already is because I still feel like a Sophomore -- not a graduated senior off to college.
To all of you incoming Freshman -- this is one of the best things you could ever do for your high school education. Not just for the arts, but CAPA allows for so much growth as a student and as person. Live your CAPA years to the fullest -- you'll miss them when they're gone.
To all of the teachers -- you all rock. If it wasn't for you there would be no program (obviously...), and that would make me sad. Thanks for everything.

I send my congratulations to all of CAPA students who were so involved this year in INTO THE WOODS, GREASE, BAD SEED, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, TARTUFFE, and MACBETH; and the JAZZ BLOWOUT, SONGBOOK, and SPRING CONCERT OF DANCE. This should capture all of CAPA students; and if it hasn't I encourage you to be more invested. The staff is struggling to ensure that you are all involved next year. I want to thank parents and students alike for their hard work this past year....we have had an amazing season.
Thank you all,

Congrats my diamonds. You got to where Tartuffe wanted to be. You gave it the spark, the immediacy, the life that it deserves. You also let whole audiences know how funny the French can be.

Y'all do us and CAPA proud.
I'm proud of our whole company, you handled the demands of Rep. with the effort, dedication cooperation, and grace that I had hoped. It has been an ambitious challenge, and I think you all rose to the occasion beautifully. Y'all do us and CAPA proud. Einne Gutte Show for all, from Acting to Tech.

To everyone involved in Macbeth and Tartuffe: Have the best shows that you can produce, be professional and know that you are only as good as your last performance. Break a leg, carpe diem, and may the forces be with you. All my love, the Mackster

Hi All, Just wanted to let everyone know that Churchill also has an Alumni Website. I know a lot of people here are not thinking about being an Alumni ,, But it is a great way to stay in touch after graduation as well as be notified of any reunions. Hope to see you there.

I just wanted to say thank-you for creating such an amazing website that really captures the heart of this exceptional program. I graduated from Churchill in "99" and nothing in my life has even come close to the memories that I have made in CAPA. I hope that all of you continue to follow your dreams, whatever they be. I look forward to seeing your next show!!! Ms. Mack, I think you should start a CAPA reunion. I would love to know what everyone is doing. Tell Adam that I said hello, I miss you both!

I think that we are doing amazing theatre, vocals, and dance.  Just remember the discipline that we try to teach in CAPA:  there is a purpose, a reason:  to better the student, and to hone the skills that each individual displays.

Please come to see Streetcar Named Desire... the achievement level of these students is what CAPA excels to.  Added to that is the Jazz Blowout....Music and dance beyond the high school level.

We have more to come, but get tickets for these two events...you will not regret it.

Congratulations to Mr. Bergsman's cast & crew of Bad Seed. You all did an amazing job of weaving a story that gripped the audience . We were waiting to see what would happen next...you could have heard a pin drop in the house. Yet, we had our moments of laughter (thanks Leroy!)and kept our eyes glued to the stage.

I can't believe this is Laurie's last CAPA production. These four years flew by! I know you kids did all the hard work of putting the shows together, and I want you to know how much I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of every show..and I'd like to Thank You all from the bottom of my heart!

Okay I'm going to try my best not to use any foul language in this post but it really makes me mad that LPS is trying to shut the Black Box down after 20 years of existence! For those of you who haven't heard yet I've talked to the custodians and apparently what happened is an LPS maintenance man who's son goes to Churchill walked into the Black Box and freaked out because of the fact that it was no longer a classroom. He in turn reported it to the head of maintenance for LPS (David Watson) and they both agreed that it was unacceptable. From what I've heard there will be a vote as to whether or not the Black Box should be renovated and brought up to code or simply shut down entirely. For anybody interested in contacting Mr. Watson regarding this issue his email is jyee@livonia.k12.mi.us CAPA will not go quietly!

Sincerely, Jack (From The Stage Crew)

Words cannot begin to explain my feelings for the C.A.P.A. program at Churchill High School. What a great group of talented students that this school has been blessed with. I have had the honor of getting to know many of you personally, and have not been disappointed. What wonderful experiences my daughter had while being in this program. Never could I have imagined that with Nicole coming into this program as a dancer, that she would branch into acting, and singing also. We even learned how to take care of a special little pig named Salami, for the show Little Abner. What great memories. Remember to always believe in yourselves, for you are truly wonderful individuals. To Gail Mack, and Mary Murphy, thank-you for having such an impact on my daughters life. I love you both.

I love your website and am very jealous. I go to a wonderful high school that has a program similar to yours but we don't have the same funding. I'd love to go to Winston Churchill High but I am comfortable with Modesto High and our family here, plus I am a junior. I think that if I have children (later in life) I would defiantly send them to a Theater based school like Winston Churchill High.

Hey guys!!! Just wanna say Congrats to everyone that is in Into The Woods. CAPA really does help you prepare for college theatre programs. I got here and I was way ahead of all the theatre students in my class. It's kind of nice! And for those of you who don't get cast in many shows during CAPA don't worry! I just got cast in a Mainstage show here called "Days of Absence" where we'll be using Tadashi Suzuki (sp). Claire Walsh is also in it. I'm sorry to say that its the same week as Into the Woods though, so i won't be able to make it to see you all!!! Have a great show if I don't see you before!!!!!

I ran across your website while browsing the other day. And I must say I was highly impressed with what I discovered. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that a program of this magnitude existed anywhere. Especially for high school age kids. If more programs like this existed throughout the country. Our young people would be so much better served. Thank you so much for caring about our children. Keep up the good work.

On Tuesday, July 20,  we need a lot of help on the costumes and the black box/ voice box/ green room renovations.  Parents and students alike.  12:00 noon, meet at the Black Box.  Thanks.

ps. Many students state that this is their summer vacation, well it is also true for the faculty.  We wish that we could just let it all go; but we want it ready for the fall.  Last year so many were pleased with the changes in the Black Box, that only happened by hard work in the summer.  Be a part of making it happen.  Stay posted for future dates.

And thanks to everyone who has helped so far!!!!!

I hope I get shoes next week. Boys shoes are fine too. I'll take anything. My Operation Shoe Drop is my part of Operation Shoe Fly, that is run by the troops. Help me out here!!!!!
I plan to box them all up next weekend. Thanks.

Ms Mack - June 27, 2004

I really want girls shoes, from sizes 0 to 8 or 9 adult (for kids ages 0 to 14). Don't bring high heels or flashy shoes; sandals, boots, loafers, tennies....something that one could live with. The girls in Afghanistan have very little. They acquiesce to the boys and live barefoot much of the time. If you leave shoes for these girls at my house next week I will be certain to get them to Operation Shoe Drop. Have a kind heart, find shoes whether at resale shops, your own closet, or regular shoe stores......Call me if you have some. We can help.
Ps. I love you all!!!!!

I want to say THANK YOU to the students and the parents who do the "dirty work"; you are the ones truly committed to making CAPA the best it can be. You few who build the sets, sew the costumes, purchase and deliver the food and water, film, strike the sets and clean the aud when the show is over, and all the other jobs that too many think they are too good for. You are my stars! Without you the show does not go on! So here's to you, take a bow, a STANDING OVATION ... BRAVO!!!

PLEASE HELP TO SUPPORT THIS FUNDRAISER.  WE NEED IT!!!!!  PROCAPA INTENDS TO PAY ALL INDUCTEE FEES FOR NEW MEMBERS, WHICH WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1,000. OR MORE.  AS A MEMBER OF THE CAPA FAMILY WE NEED TO HELP PROCAPA MAKE THIS A SUCCESS.  DO ME PROUD!!!!!

Ms. Mack- CAPA, because I seldom get home, either

Everyone please come to fundraiser on Thursday, and help out with it! If not for me or Wendy or Drake, for CAPA (you) !

Love Eden
L-Town: CAPAFundraiser@yahoo.com

You know, Wendy is correct...the Drake fundraiser will be much fun...and if you don't come, Eden will cry. Now, do you really want to be the person responsible for making Eden cry? Poor Eden who has worked her butt off to make this thing a reality? I didn't think so! So of course you will be there!
P.S. You would be wicked awesome if you signed up to HELP at the fundraiser! Sign up sheets are posted on the call board!

Directors and Actors in the Directors' Marathon~ Be proud! It went well today, basically without any hitches, we made a profit, and all in all it was a memorable day. Although I am sorry for my mean stage manager moments though. This is the first Marathon, and it will be remembered, for it went much more smoothly than most people anticipated. So this was something to be proud of! And now you are basically done, no more stress! Congradulations to everyone!

I hope everyone saw the front page of the Observer today! How cool...CAPA alumni on the silver screen! Just in case you didn't hear, CAPA alumni Judy Greer is co-starring with Jennifer Garner in 13 going on 30. She's playing Lucy, Jenna Rink's (Garner's) friend. I wasn't planning on going to see it, but I think I will now! Must support CAPA student's past and present!

Little Shop is going great everybody! It's so funny! I can't wait until the show goes up!@ (4 more days!)

Hey any class of 98 folks! (and 97 and 99 too!) I hope you are all doing
well. It's so great to see pics and remember the "old days". I miss CAPA! It
was such a huge, awesome part of my life. I can't beleive we've been out for
6 years already (and getting married and having babies and all that "grown
up" stuff.) It seems like it was all just yesterday. I hope to hear from any
of you guys who see this - I would love to chat with any of the "old gang."
I miss you!!!

Hey Everyone!  Little Shop is coming along great!  It's gonna be great...but we do need A LOT of your help!!!  We would greatly appreciate it if you could help with set construction.  We will be @ CHS in the Aud. on Mon from 7 am-3 pm, Tues from 7 am-2:30 pm, Fri from 7 am-3 pm and the rest of the week is TBA.  If you can come, that would be GREAT!!!  If you have any questions, drop me an e-mail (capazmud@earthlink.net).

Also, on Friday, Audrey II will be delivered (courtesy Mr. Rayes).  She is VERY VERY VERY heavy, we are told, therefore we will need LOTS of help getting her off of the truck.  She will arrive between 8 & 8:30 AM.  Just show up if you can!

P.S.  You will get service points for any help you give!

Thanks,
Zmud

WOW! First off *waves* Hi Ms. Mack and hi to all the class of '99 guys who are running around here. :) I am so glad that I have the net at work and decided to see if CAPA had a website... call it a curiosity of sorts to visit the past. I can't believe that we've been out of h.s for almost 5 years now... how time has flown by. I'm glad to see that CAPA is still running strong. I hear all you present CAPA members are getting wonderful reviews in the paper... which is great! I loved looking at all the pictures from the old days(can't believe I can call it that now... gezze)and remembering all the fun times we had rehearsing for plays and one-acts, and who can forget building the sets. This site is definitely going on my favoites list.. to the present CAPA crew.. keep up the good work, and to the oldschool friends I hope everybody is well... I miss you all! :)
